Healthy teeth and gums are fundamental to a healthy mouth. A teeth cleaning is the most important part of dental hygiene. It’s necessary for anyone who wants to keep their teeth healthy. It removes plaque, tartar, and bacteria that can lead to cavities and other oral health problems. Prevention is the best way to care for your oral health.
What to expect during in-office teeth cleaning
During an in-office teeth cleaning, we remove tartar and plaque build-up, identify any oral issues, and educate you on how to maintain your oral health. We also offer preventative treatments to ensure that your oral health stays at its best.
Depending on your oral hygiene and age, a cleaning appointment takes 40~60 minutes, which includes:
- Screening: oral health assessment, teeth history, dental charting, etc.
- Dental cleaning: cleaning and polishing teeth, stains, cavities, and gums
- Teeth exam to check gums for decay or disease
- Dental radiographs
- Applying fluoride, or sealants and any other applications
- An intra-oral exam to check the gum tissues, tongue, and lips
- Annual oral cancer screening
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Pineridge Dental offers routine cleaning appointments for patients of all ages. We offer a variety of cleaning options, from your general hygiene appointment to deep cleanings and more.
In order to maintain optimal oral health, we recommend that you visit our office every 3 months for a routine cleaning. However, there are many factors that determine how often you need to come in for a visit. For instance, if you have periodontal disease or gum disease, you may need to come in more frequently. If you have orthodontic appliances or are pregnant, then your visits will be more frequent as well.
We are committed to providing you with the best dental care, and that includes helping you understand your dental needs. Whether you’re a new patient or have been with us for years, our team will work with you to create a personalized schedule that meets your needs.
